MSU must facilitate 6 bye-elections to elect representatives to these roles.

- Doctoral Postgraduate Representative
Duties & Time Commitment
Doctoral Postgraduate Representative: responsible for dealing with issues relating to the education, welfare and student experience of doctoral postgraduate members of the Union. See Article 10.12 of the MSU Constitution for more details
Indicative Meeting Requirements
- MSU Executive| Twenty-Five (25) times per year
- MSU Student Senate| Six (6) times per year
- Academic Council| Five (5) times per year
- Postgraduate Feedback Council | Four (4) times per year

- Download the nomination form.
- Fill in contact details, position, declaration sections on the nomination form.
- We recommend that you ask those who are nominating you to provide you with their name and student number so that you may input those details in the nomination form on their behalf.
- Please email completed nomination forms to returning.officers@msu.ie
- Confirmation of receipt of your nomination form will then be emailed to you.
A completed Nomination Form must be received by 12.00pm (Midday) Tuesday, 1 December 2020
We also strongly recommend setting up your online Candidate Profile in advance of the Close of Nominations:
- Make sure your MSU.ie account is registered and you are logged-in
- Visit the Elections homepage and view the 'Post List'
- Click 'Stand' and enter your contact details
- Navigate to the Position you are submitting a Nomination Form for.
- Under 'Action' click 'Stand' and click OK.
- You can now upload your manifesto and add a ballot photo.

General Information
Every year, 6 students are elected to work part-time to improve the lives of students at Maynooth University (MU) and Saint Patrick’s College Maynooth (SPCM). Together with the 4 Full-Time officers they form the MSU Executive and play a key role in shaping education, engagement, student welfare and services at the University, and lead MSU as an organisation to make sure it is doing everything it can for its members.
The roles are part-time and voluntary and you must be a current MU or SPCM student to hold one of these positions. But don’t worry - support will be put in place to ensure you are able to effectively deliver as part of the MSU Executive team.

Duties
Charity Senator: Assisting the VP Student Life in encouraging members of the Union to engage in charity activities and initiatives organised by the Union and the University. See Schedule 1.2.3 of the MSU Constitution for more details
Commuter Senator: Assisting the Vice President Welfare & Equality and the Vice President Student Life in representing and addressing the needs of commuting students in relation to education, welfare, and student experience. See Schedule 1.2.5 of the MSU Constitution for more details
Mental Health Senator: Assisting the VP Welfare & Equality in campaigning, lobbying, and promoting awareness of issues that may affect the mental health of members of the Union. See Schedule 1.2.14 of the MSU Constitution for more details
Part-Time Course Senator: Assisting the VP Education and VP Welfare & Equality in addressing the needs of students engaging in part time study in relation to education, welfare and student experience. See Schedule 1.2.15 of the MSU Constitution for more details

Represent the needs of different student groups.
In order to ensure the diverse student population is represented on Student Senate some of the roles have a particular focus. For example; the Green Campus Senator would have an interest in green issues etc.
Draft Policy on behalf of MSU.
A key function of Student Senate is to consider and draft policy that will guide the direction of MSU on behalf of its members. This policy is written, discussed and then voted upon by Student Senate, so you will have direct involvement.
General Information
Each year MSU looks for students who wish to play a significant role in the democratic operations of the organisation. A number of elections are held in order to elect the student representatives that will form MSU Student Senate and run MSU on behalf of the students of Maynooth University and St.Patrick's College, Maynooth.
Senator roles are voluntary and you must be a current MU student to hold one of these positions. MSU Student Senate sits at least 3 times per Semester. During these meetings you get to formulate and vote on student policy and shape the direction of MSU on behalf of our members.
Every year, students are elected into MSU Student Senate positions. Together with the 4 Full-Time and 6 Part-Time Officers officers they form the MSU Student Senate and play a key role in representing the needs and views of students, overseeing the work of MSU and informing MSU policy.
