Search Committee

The Search Committee (SerCom) is established by the MSU Constitution and the Student Senate to participate in the manner set oout below in the procedures for an appointment to the post of Speaker of the Student Senate.

• The function of the Search Committee shall be to take such steps as will in its opinion best ensure participation in the selection process by high quality candidates for the post of Speaker of the Student Senate. It will arrange for the post to be advertised in such form and in such publications as the Search Committee may consider to be appropriate. The Search Committee may retain on behalf of Maynooth Students' Union any one or more providers of such professional services as it considers to be appropriate.
   
• The Search Committee shall carry out its function subject to any directions of the Student Senate from time to time provided that, unless and save to the extent that the Student Senate otherwise directs, the acts of the Search Committee shall not be subject to confirmation by the Student Senate.

Membership

Membership of the Search Committee and Selection Committee shall be mutaully exclusive. Membership of the committee shall be as follows, namely:

• One past Speaker of the Student Senate
• Two members of the Student Senate elected by the Student Senate

Chairperson

The past Speaker of MSU Student Senate shall be the Chairperson of the Committee but may delegate responsibility to another member of the Committee.

frequency

The Committee shall meet at least once per academic year, and then as often as required to carry out its function.

Quorum

Quorum should be no less than 50% of those entitled to attend and vote.

Governance

The Committee shall report back to the Student Senate after each meeting.
